Be a Good Man
Quote:
“Waste no more time arguing about what a good man should be. Be one.” – Marcus Aurelius
Thought:
Differing value systems will define “good” differently.
Growing up, I thought if you had tattoos, drank alcohol, or even thought about uttering a naughty four-letter word, it meant you were intrinsically bad.
People in your life will measure you by their values. It’s part of life. This is what makes it impossible for everyone to agree on a universal definition of “good.” Even something as simple as “don’t murder” would have the aspiring serial killer in disagreement.
The more time you spend arguing with others about what makes you a “good person” the less time you spend actually being one.
Let others say what they will. Define what values are important to you and spend your time worrying about what you think of you. You’re the only one who has to spend every second of the rest of your life with you.
Question:
What makes you a good person in your own eyes?
